What should I expect for
my first class?

Excellent question and we’re glad you asked! Our classes are 60 minutes with a high-energy warm-up followed by exercises that focus on repetitive, isolated movements, that will target muscles to improve your strength and stability.

  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your first class so we can give you a tour of the studio, what to expect, and go over any questions or limitations you have.
  • Wear grip socks to class for hygiene purposes and to prevent slipping. If you do not own a pair of grip socks or forgot to bring a pair, socks are available for purchase at the front desk.
  • Wear comfortable workout attire such as leggings or capris and a tank or t-shirt.
  • Bring a water bottle.
  • Lastly, have an open mind and a positive attitude! We look forward to having you!

FAQ

How is Barre different from other fitness classes?

Barre focuses on small isometric holds that followed immediately by stretches that will help you strengthen and lengthen your muscles that will help increase your core strength and muscle power without bulk. Barre exercises are said to help you achieve a “dancer’s body,” but we’re more focused on helping you achieve a dancer’s attitude.

Where are you located?

We are located at 549 Flatiron Blvd on what’s soon becoming ‘fitness row’ across from the Flatirons Mall.

Where do I park?

There is parking in front of the shopping strip, but space can fill up quickly! If you don’t see any parking in the front there is a 2-floor parking garage behind Stiletto Barre.

What should I bring?

You just need two things: grip socks and yourself! If you don’t have socks, we have socks for purchase in our retail area. We also recommend bringing a water bottle, but if you forget we have a filtered water dispenser and water fountain for your convenience.

What should I wear?

Come dressed to move in comfortable attire. Grip socks are required – you may bring your own or purchase a pair at the studio.

Do I need to be a dancer or have taken ballet?

Absolutely not! Our classes are based on Lotte Berk’s techniques, who was a former ballerina, however, she designed her classes to be for those who with no ballet or dance background and we do as well. Instructors will guide you through ballet basics and barre methods in each class to make sure you are comfortable and are in the correct form, but if you have additional questions, instructors are available after class. In the future, we will be adding dance classes to our schedule, but no dance experience or ability will be necessary.

I don’t think I’m in shape. Can I still do barre?

Absolutely! Barre is a challenging class for everyone, but you have to start somewhere. Just do your best in each class and be consistent and you will see improvements! Our certified instructors will help you adjust, perfect your form, and provide any additional attention you might need in class. We will challenge, motivate, and empower you through each class because we are just as invested in your transformation as you are!

I have injuries. Am I still able to take classes?

Safety is our biggest priority, so please consult a medical professional to make sure you are okay to exercise. Otherwise, yes! Please arrive 15 minutes early to talk to your instructor about your injury so they can help you make modifications.

Can I come to class if I’m pregnant?

Yes! Welcome, #StilettoMama! Please get clearance to exercise from a medical professional, but once you’re at the studio, arrive 15 minutes early to talk to your instructor so they can help you make modifications.

Am I too old to do barre?

Definitely not! Lotte Berk did barre her whole life and her daughter, Esther Fairfax is 85 and still teaching barre out of her home studio almost EVERY day. We welcome all ages, genders, and fitness levels. Your health and wellness are important to us and barre is a fantastic way to strengthen and tone at any age.

Can guys take classes?

100% yes! We actually encourage men to take classes. Barre is a great addition to any fitness regime and it can help men improve posture, balance, coordination, and core strength.
